Thanks for your interest in my last workshop of 2019! I’ve spent the last year extensively in Mexico, shooting beautiful editorials all over this amazing country. And I wanted to create a workshop to share its beauty with photographers all over the world.  I put my heart and soul into each workshop and I am extremely excited to announce the workshop will be designed by one of the absolute best in the industry, Type A Society!

The last workshop of 2019 will be held at the historic Hacienda Sotuta De Peon in Yucatan, Mexico, October 14th-17th. It will be an all inclusive experience for the attendees. All lodging and food will be provided with optional traditional Mexican food cooking class and other fun activities.  All you have to worry about is getting yourself there, and my team will take care of the rest!  Looking forward to meeting you! 





Sotuta de Peón was built by Don Peón as a henequén estate in the 19th century in the village of Tecoh. To produce on an industrial scale, he had 13 haciendas, as a large amount of henequén plants were required for the production of sisal. It is now a fully restored luxury Hacienda that’s open to tourists who want to relive the rich regional history, and also host weddings year round for luxury clientele.  There’s also a beautiful cenote onsite, with beautiful rivers of crystalline and alkaline waters. Truly a one of a kind venue that I’m proud to host my workshop in!

The workshop will be a full immersive experience at one of the luxurious haciendas in Yucatan Mexico. Students will arrive on Monday, and be greeted with a traditional Mexican welcome dinner onsite. Upon check in, students can enjoy the hacienda, take a tour, or simply relax in their well appointed room.  On Tuesday, we will tackle the artistic side of wedding photography. I will discuss how to brand yourself to attract high end clientele, my journey to becoming a photographer, posing, shooting for editorial and much more. In the afternoon, students will enjoy lunch on site and a beautifully styled shoot by Type A Society in the afternoon. I will lead the photographers to make sure you capture breathtaking images that will elevate your portfolio. 

On day 2, we will discuss real world business stratagies that will help you elevate your brand to the next level.There will be a heavy concentration on strategies to help students book more destination weddings. More than 50% of my weddings are from destination/international clients, and I will share what it takes to book those clients and still remain profitable.  We will also discuss album upsell, SEO strategies, how to price yourself and so much more. 

On the morning of Day 3, you will spend one on one time with me in going over your individual portfolio and I will help you curate your social media & website.  We will say our farewell after lunch! 

You will walk away with practical strategies that can be implemented immediately into your own business. Expect to have lots of one-on-one time with myself. The workshop is purposely kept small & intimate in a judgement free environment. I want everybody to feel comfortable in asking all those embarrassing (but important!) questions you might not be comfortable in asking in a big group setting. Expect to have lots of fun in a well structured classroom setting. I can’t wait to meet you!

Do I have to be a film photographer to attend the workshop?

No, you don’t. I am a hybrid photographer myself. Feel free to bring your DSLR. In fact, most of your peers will be shooting both digital & film.  There will be a portion of classroom time dedicated to the basics of shooting film.

What do I need to bring?

Laptop or notepad to take notes, your favorite camera & lenses, and a great attitude to learn. Everything else will be taken care of for you.  At the end of the workshop you will receive an electronic copy of all the classroom material as well.

Will there be food?

I am allergic to bad food, so you will be in great hands. This will be an all inclusive experience, so all food & drinks will be provided. You only have to be responsible in getting to the Hacienda, my team will take care of the rest. Specific allergies? Just let us know in advance! 

We have two photographers in the same studio, or could I bring a nonphotographer partner?

If there are two photographers from the same studio, we do offer a small discount.  And since nobody likes to travel along,  if you want to bring a friend/partner/spouse who’s not a photographer please email me and we will make it happen. 

Will you provide film?

We will provide a few rolls for each student, but bring your own so you can shoot as much as you want!

Do I need to rent a film camera if I don’t already have one?

It’s completely up to you! I think you will get the most out of the workshop if you do bring a film camera. But it’s not required. I also would highly recommend at least trying out the camera before shooting it for the first time at the workshop.

Can I use the images for my portfolio?

Absolutely! There are no limitation to what you can do with the images. All I ask for is please credit the entire vendor team since everybody worked hard on putting together the production.

Is transportation included?

Attendees will be responsible in getting themselves to the Hacienda. Once you arrive, we will arrange all transportation necessary for photoshoots or outings. 

What if I can't make the workshop after signing up?

Unfortunately the workshop is nonrefundable once you sign up; but the deposit can be transferred to a future workshop or to another attendee. Please make all necessary arrangements prior to committing to the workshop.

Could we still get in touch with you after the workshop?

Absolutely!  As part of the workshop, we will schedule a video conference call about 3-6 months after the workshop has concluded. During that call we will evaluate how you’ve implemented all the strategies  learned from the workshop into your business.
