Meet Kathy & Stanley!! For their uber-cool engagement session they had asked for something stylish, modern, urban, and uniquely ‘them.’ After many brainstorming sessions we decided on The London in West Hollywood, this just happens to be where Stanley proposed (more on that later!). We pretty much shot everywhere in the hotel that we could. Rooftop pool area, outdoor balcony, lobby, hallway, elevator, and even Gordon Ramsay’s Restaurant. After we were done at the hotel, we wanted to do the rest of their engagement session at the historic Bradbury Building, but it was unfortunately closed. Then we went to Caltrans District 7 headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles, and we were falsely told that we needed a permit and actually got kicked out by a security guard. BUT, we were still were able to sneak in a few quick shots before we left the premise. We finally ended the shoot at the world famous Disney Concert Hall. If you don’t know the building, the architecture is simply breathtaking. Overall it was a fantastic shoot and I am so glad we were able to incorporate some of the iconic architecture of downtown Los Angeles into the shoot.

I asked Stanley to tell me a bit about the proposal and I have to give it to the guy. It was very creative and memorable. Kathy & Stanley are foodies and they have always wanted to try Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant. So this gave Stanley a perfect excuse to book a room at The London hotel for their culinary exploration. However, Stanley had made a photo album which had pictures laid out chronologically of the places they have been to together, with dates on top of each page. He gave this album to her as a gift, but asked her to look through it before they went to the restaurant. When Kathy flipped to the last page, the page simply stated “2-4-2011 Engaged.” That’s when Stanley dropped to his knee and proposed to her. And as they say, the rest is history!
