2011 WORKSHOP RECAP | FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

WOW.

Where should I begin. By the time you are reading this, I have already changed this first sentence at least 10 times. There really are no good ways to express how incredibly honored I feel about the workshop. I am beyond humbled, and privileged to have led a workshop along with my friend Shannon Lee this past weekend at the gorgeous Hotel Maya in Long Beach.. When Shannon and I started brainstorming about possibly putting a workshop together, we were overwhelmed with the amount of planning that goes into a workshop. From venue, budgeting, content, models, stylist, hair makeup artist, everything has to be coordinated. We were able to secure some of the best vendors in the business for our workshop, and we were extremely honored for the opportunity to work with them.

I honestly never, never, ever, expected this. I have always enjoyed sharing what I learned along the way with photographers who are younger in their career than me. But I never thought I’d get this great opportunity this early. We had a group of up & coming rockstar photographers that joined us for the workshop and we had a blast! We started the day with brunch at the Fuego Restaurant in Hotel Maya. Let me just say the food was UNBELIEVABLE. We talked about photography, what inspired us, and where we saw ourselves in 5 years. For the workshop itself, we covered everything from what equipment we have to how to network with other vendors. We pretty much covered everything from A to Z about the wedding photography business. I also can’t give enough credit to our talented designer Tashina Hunter for styling our gorgeous shoot, and Evelyn Lui of Serene Bridal Beauty for providing hair/makeup!

We broke up into separate groups where we each concentrated on posing, framing, how to get the most out of your bride & groom, and the importance of shooting details. Our models Libby & Chris Cron are actually newlyweds and they were just so easy to work with. It also helps that they are easy on the eyes. 🙂 Here’s a list of the rest of the fantastic vendors we had the pleasure of working with;
